A mom's workout

It is quite sad how little I work out anymore. To think that, at one point, I was doing triathlons (granted the shortest kind possible and I was far from winning them). For years, I used to belong to a gym. All this was pre-kids of course. My only form of exercise these days is running (literally running, it is not a figure of speech) from one place to the next. From accompanying Gabriel's class to the swimming pool back home for an interview, from home where I was finishing a last-minute job to school to pick up the boys and so on and so forth. OK, I also ride my bike occasionally and walk a fair amount around Paris.

This summer, my dear sister-in-law gave me some advice to fight the sagging triceps syndrome with a few weight exercises (as a physical therapist, she is in a position to give advice in that department). When I got back to Paris, I even bought some weights! But they are sitting in my closet, unused and gathering dust. Meanwhile, my biceps are continuing to sag. Today, I did a bit of real-life lifting while helping a mom who needed to go up a flight of stairs with a kid in a stroller, another young child in tow and a scooter. I guess that’s all the form of exercise I am going to get.

Advice:  be sure to store the weights on the FLOOR of your closet.  I kept mine on the top shelf and suffered a VERY bruised (nearly broken) big toe when I knocked one off the shelf two years ago when I was getting out my Christmas decorations.  Really, it's probably safer to just get rid of the weights (and any other exercise equipment)! :-)

Re:

Thanks goodness, I do keep them on the floor of the closet. I like the idea of them being there, I might use them some day. They are a symbol of potential and good things that might happen.
