Today was the commemoration of the abolition of slavery in France in 1849. Two classes in the Paris public school system were chosen to give a concert at the town hall in front of Mayor Bertrand Delanoë to celebrate the event. Emmanuel’s class was one of them. The children had rehearsed before the two-week break. This morning, their first day back in school, they were standing in a huge gilded stateroom in the town hall singing their little hearts out accompanied by a small orchestra. There was a second concert in the afternoon which attracted a standing-room only crowd in the very large and ornate room. Very heart-warming. Here is Emmanuel leaving the stage.
