Planting trees

A bunch of French, British and American scouts got together yesterday to plant about 200 trees in Jambville, a French scouting training center we had visited on a camping trip back in October. Because the opportunity to get out of Paris is always welcome, Emmanuel and I got up early on Saturday to get on a chartered bus full of Brownies and Daisies and one other Cub Scout (Gabriel was nursing an ear infection and stayed warm at a friend's). We personally planted three or four trees in the huge park of the Jambville castle...under a flurry of snow flakes. I hope Mother Earth appreciated the gesture. The rest of the day was spent in singing joyful songs about trees and the planet, discussing the differences between the various flavors of scouts present and getting very muddy. In other words, a good day by a boy's standards.
