C'est ça que j'aime dans mon boulot/That's what I like about my job
C'est la variété et la possibilité de découvrir de nouvelles choses constamment. Avant-hier, j'ai écrit sur un projet de fichier des élèves dans l'Education nationale et sur un brainstorming lancé par une société auprès de ses 18 000 employés via Internet. Hier, je suis allée écouter un Français de Hong-Kong qui lance un nouveau cadre numérique et la ministre de l'Enseignement supérieure et de la recherche parler d'un rapport sur le rapprochement entre les universités et les organismes de recherche comme le CNRS. Dans l'après-midi, j'aurais pu aller rencontrer Zep, le créateur de Titeuf, qui faisait vaguement quelque chose avec MSN, mais j'ai fait l'impasse. C'est cette variété qui me plait. Mais ce matin, j'essayais de me mettre à la place de quelqu'un qui fait un autre métier. Comment cela fait-il de partir le matin pour aller vendre des maisons, faire la classe à 30 élèves ou faire la police dans un quartier sensible? De mon côté, j'ai toujours eu cette envie de créer quelque chose de mes mains car il me semble qu'il serait satisfaisant d'avoir un objet tangible au bout de son travail. Espoir assez vain car je suis plutôt nulle de mes 10 doigts et je ne connaitrais sans doute jamais ce sentiment.
I love the change and the opportunity to constantly learn about new things. Two days ago, I wrote about two different topics, a database of all French school children which the ministry of education is working on and which is scaring many parents and an international web-based brainstorming marathon involving the 18 000 employees of a French company. Yesterday, I met a Hong-Kong-based French entrepreneur who was presenting a new digital picture frame and I heard the minister of higher education and research who was talking about a new report on university-based research in France. In the afternoon, I was supposed to attend an event organized by MSN with a popular French comics book author, but I had to pass. I like this variety. This morning, I was wondering what it would feel like to go out and sell houses, or teach 30 kids in a classroom or police a disenfranchised neighborhood. I have always felt that it would be nice to do manual work because it would be satisfying to hold a finished object in one's hands. It is probably a feeling I will never experience as I am definitely not a gifted handiperson.
