Cycles of Change

Yeah, Emmanuel now has a bike. This afternoon after school, we picked up the bike he had chosen a couple weeks ago, all repaired and (nearly) like new. We bought it at Cycles of Change, a non-profit on the old navy base in Alameda that takes in donation and sells them while training people on bike repairs. Lots of local kids also hang around and have a positive place to be. The money is helping fight homelessness. What's not to like about it? If you live in the East Bay and are looking for a bike, these guys have dozens and dozens of choices.

Now we may have a bit of an uphill battle convincing the boys to bike to school. Biking down to school in the morning should be fine. But I can see how biking back up at the end of the school day might not sound as fun especially for Emmanuel whose school bag is quite heavy. But come on boys, we are not talking about going to school barefoot in the snow...
